Pet Food Recall May Have Affected More Animals Than Reported

Comments Off

Currently there has been only 10 animals that have died from the pet food recall as reported to the FDA. Veterinarians around the country are concerned that the number is much higher than that. Foods manufactured by Menu Foods has been recalled due possible causing kidney failure in dogs and cats.

Preliminary numbers indicate at least a hundred dogs and cats have died from the tainted food. Banfield Pet Hospital, the world’s largest veterinary practice, says the majority of its hospitals are treating animals affected by the recall and it appears right now more cats are getting sick than dogs.

The recall affects over 90 brands of cat and dog food including well known brands such as Iams and Eukanuba. The recall does not include dry pet food, only those found in cans or foil packets known as “cuts and gravy” style. If you believe that your pet has eaten the recalled food, watch them carefully and contact a veterinarian right away if there is a problem. If you would like to speak with an attorney you can use the contact form on the right.
